A Beginner’s Guide To Reformer Pilates
Curious about Reformer Pilates? Whether you’re new to Pilates altogether or just new to the reformer machine, we’re here to break down a few key things to know before your first class.
What is Reformer Pilates?
Reformer Pilates is a low-impact exercise that combines strength, flexibility, and control. It uses a specialized machine called a reformer, which features a sliding platform, springs, straps, and a footbar. This equipment adds resistance to your movements, offering support and challenging your body. The goal is to improve muscle tone, alignment, and overall body awareness.
What should I expect at a class?
Classes at Era Pilates are intentionally designed with small groups, so you have a personalized experience every time. Our certified instructors will lead you through a series of controlled movements that target different muscle groups. You will work on engaging your core, improving posture, and increasing flexibility. Exercises are performed lying down, seated, or standing on the reformer. The resistance provided by the machine can be adjusted to match your fitness level, making it suitable for all fitness and experience levels.
What should I wear and bring?
Breathable, form-fitting clothing for easy movement
Grip socks are mandatory to keep you steady and safe on the machine
A hair tie to keep your hair out of your face during class
A water bottle to keep yourself hydrated
The intention to build your best self!
